Two of the biggest surprises so far are the Montreal Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canadiens, who opened the season with a +2200 chance to win the Stanley Cup, have seen their price shift all the way to +1200. Montreal sits second in the North Division at 9-4-2, behind only the Maple Leafs.

The odds represent the team’s chances of winning the Stanley Cup and how much you can win when betting on that team to win the Stanley Cup. The biggest surprise early on has to be the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs are 5-1-2 and jumped from a “long shot” into the “favorites” group. Their odds have dropped from +5000 to the current +1600.

The biggest disappointments? The Arizona Coyotes are +6500 after being +3500 before the season, and the Chicago Blackhawks, who are without C Jonathan Toews (out indefinitely with undisclosed illness), are +10000 after once being +4000.
